PART E: CONCLUSION

I think that the drastic increase in activity did not disturb the natural environment in Jurong Lake Park. As the people there is enjoying the scene there and did not destroy the environment. The ways the officials took in conserving the park is also well done thus reducing the rate of littering. The park users also know the consequences and the fined that they will receive by just breaking a simple rule. There are also cleaners who helps to clean the areas to let us have a better scene.

They are encouraging people to plant more to boost their interest in planting. Thus they will not try to harm a plant. They also preserved the old tress and even tried not to cut down the tress even if they want to build a road which will require to cut it down. Instead they build the road around it. I think they should be complimented as they are environmentally friendly and they preserved a very very old tree.

To reduce the negative impacts of activities, they had timing for a different activities to reduce the heavy flow of the people.

PART D: THE IMPACT OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES TO THE PARK AND THE ENVIRONMENT.

HOW HUMAN ACTIVITIES CAUSED AN IMPACT ON THE PARK AND THE ENVIRONMENT?
Many people who have visited the park have the greatest impact on the park's environment. Some of the main causes are littering.Littering in the water can and will cause water pollution. This can cause great harm to the marine life in Jurong Lake Park.Littering of used cans and bottles will affect the water quality of the lake.Plastic bags and bottle caps will cause the fishes to suffocate as they mistake it as food.

THE CONSERVATIONS THE OFFICIALS DID.
Officials have made an effort to put up notices as much as they can to alert the visitors. They have done their part by making clear statements and instructions of what is unacceptable in the park.We think that the officials have done their part and fulfilled their role. However, this is not enough as we should also do our part and heed the advices and notices that is put up.As visitors,we should not be ignorant, instead we should also play our part in preserving our park's environment.

PART C: ROCK COMMUNITY

During our trip, we found quite a lot of living things on the rocks such as moss, fungus, ants and many more. Knowing that a rock could be the home of so many organisms really make us excited.

PART A :Introduction to Jurong Lake Park

Jurong Lake is a freshwater lake and reservoir located in the western region of Singapore . The lake contributes to the water supply of the country and lies next to the Lakeside MRT Station . Tourist attractions such as the Japanese and Chinese garden are located near or within the lake , in which the lake serves as a recreational ground .Public housing estates and private apartments could be found near the lake .
A landscaped sanctuary called
Jurong Lake Park was built around the perimeter of the lake and was completed in January 2006.In addition, a 2.8 kilometre water promenade along Jurong Lake Park allows residents to participate in watersports.

GROUP RELFECTIONS

- YIU BIN HAO(39)
I think the park is filled with life as there is bird chirping and many more. I felt refreshed after breathing in the scent of the beautiful flowers. The picturesque and the lush greenery of the scenery we are seeing. Therefore I think it is important to protect and conserve the plants and trees instead of destroying it with the human activities. I also think that Jurong Lake Park are well designed as it has playgrounds for children to play, there is chairs or benches for old people or people to sit on when they are tired.

-ANG KELLY(02)
Personally , I felt that the trip to Jurong Lake Park was very fruitful . I saw different interesting creatures such as dragonflies that looked metallic with different colours flying around , pongpongs , clams , snails ,fishes ,grasshopper and a monitor lizard as I set off to search for rocks .I felt awe-struck and was very anticipated to move on to discover what was lying ahead of the park . Eventually , we came upon rocks and found different organisms such as eggs , flower ,plants ,shells , snail and many more . I was deeply mesmerized by the beauty of nature that I did not knew before and snap pictures of them for research and personal appreciation .After this outing , I've learnt that we should not destroy the beauty of nature by polluting or littering parks so as to enable others to appreciate it too . My group was definitely more bonded as we learnt how to face difficulties together , cooperate with one another and mosst importantly , share our joy together .

-AYU SURYA(03)
After my visit to Jurong Lake Park, I have come to see that the park itself has many interesting creatures let alone the lake.I enjoyed the beautiful scenery as i searched for inhabitants of the rock community.Although I did not managed to take any different photos,I realised how important it was to be responsible and not damage the beauty of the park.It made me feel that the environment wasgile and very precious. From this experience,I feel that biodiversity is a very interesting subject.

Name : Clam

A clam's shell consists of two (usually equal) valves .In clams, two adductor muscles contract to close the shells. The clam has no head, and usually has no eyes, (scallops are a notable exception), but a clam does have kidneys, a heart, a mouth, and an anus. For more information see bivalve and pseudofeces.
Clams, like most mollusks, also have open circulatory systems, which means that their organs are surrounded by watery blood that contains nutrients and oxygen.
Clams eat plankton by filter feeding, and they themselves are eaten by small sharks and squid

Scientific Name :Ampullariidae(Apple Snail)
Apple Snail lay their eggs above waterline and are unusual because they have both gills and lungs, the mantle cavity being divided to separate the two types of respiratory structures.Apple snails inhabit various ecosystems: ponds, swamps and rivers. Although they occasionally leave the water, they mainly spend time in the water. Unlike many snail species, apple snails are gonochoristic in which a male and a female are needed for reproduction

Name : Pong Pong
The pong pong (Cerbera odollam) is a medium sized tree that was once commonly planted along roads in Singapore. They were once popular as they were easy to germinate as wayside tree but became less of a favourite as there was more maturity of the garden city and availability of a more varied selection of tree species in addition to its unattractive general shape and nuisance caused when they 'litter' on the ground .They are locally used to poison rats as the seed they contain is poisonous .

Name:Dragonfly
A dragonfly is a type of
insect belonging to the order Odonata .They are usually found around lakes, ponds, streams and wetlands because their larvae, known as "nymphs", are aquatic.Female dragonfly lay eggs in or near water, often on floating or emergent plants . They feed on small insects .

Name : Snail(Land)
Species of land snails live in almost every kind of habitat, from deserts and mountains to marshes, woodland, and gardens. However, certain species are "anthropophilic", which means they are found most often around human habitation. Land snails have thinner shells, opposed to water snails, which sometimes have very thick shells.
